10 Stylish CSS Blockquotes For Blogger

Blockquote element defines "a section [within a document] that is quoted from another source". Earlier today, I spent several hours to find and create these 10 stylish blockquotes. Some are created by me and rest are from bunch of sites. Demo and download of this project is available at this link.

How To Add Blockquote Styling On Your Blog:

Before I post styling, you should know how to replace these stylish blockquotes with your template's default one.

Go To Blogger > Template > Edit HTML > Search for following code:

.post blockquote

or

.post-body blockquote
Now replace whole CSS with our custom styles, you can find them in next heading. Here is an example of your template's default blockquote:

.post blockquote {
Some CSS HERE
}

New Floating Social Sharing Widget For Blogger

Earlier this year, I shared an awesome jQuery floating social sharing widget for Blogger. Now, it's time to share another one, which is from Making Different. It'll really approach your visitors to like, tweet and +1 your blog posts.

Also, it'll appear when your reader will reach your blog post's footer, which will allow him to share this post after reading it.

As of writing, I'am also using this widget on BWidgets. Hopefully, I'll also add this widget to my other blogs, which will help me to gain more social media attention.

Adding This Widget:

Adding this widget is so simple but a bit lengthy. We'll add this widget on our blog in four simple steps. First one is below:

  • Go To Blogger > Template > Edit HTML > Click on "Proceed" > Mark the "Expand Template Widgets" option:

Adding jQuery Script:

If your blog already have a jQuery script, then you can skip this step. Now, after following first step, we have to add jQuery script on our template:

  • Search and add below snippet code before
tag:

Adding Trigger:

This step will work as our widget trigger. Make sure you that "Expand Template Widgets" option is marked:

  • Search following code in your template:

<data:post.body/>

  • Immediately below it, add the following snippet.

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>

</b:if>

All Done....Final part time...

Adding Social Sharing Widget:

Finally, it's time for our final step. After this, you can check your blog to see this awesome widget.

  • Find and add the below snippet code before
tag:

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>

Replace bwidgetz with your Facebook page's username.

Custom Facebook Like Box Style #2:

This one is even more better. As you can see in above image, this widget is customized very well with some beautiful CSS. Also, you can again see an image of mine with Eminem :p

Finally, it's time to share code of this beautiful like box. Copy the code below and paste it anywhere inside your blog or website:

Replace bwidgetz with your Facebook page's username.

More Customization:

The default background color of both Facebook Like boxes is #F4F4F4 but you can use any other web color. Also, if you want to have a more wider or taller Like box for your website, you can need to change the width and height values. All credits on this amazing work goes to Digital Inspiration.

Also, I used Purple Purse fonts on images for this article. Don't forget to leave your comments...

3D Subscription Box Widget For Blogger

I created this subscription widget using CSS Facebook login form, which is available to preview or download here. It look's great and sleek. You can also use this widget on your wordpress blog or on a static HTML page.

It's coded with pure CSS, no images were harmed during creation process. Don't remove credits, and you're free to use or share this widget.

Add This Widget To Blogger:

  • Go To Blogger > Layout > Add A Gadget > HTML/JavaScript
  • Paste following code:

Earn More With InfoLinks Affiliate Program

In the past, I posted an article on "Monetizing Your Blog With InfoLinks." Today, we are going to discuss about InfoLinks Affiliate Program, which is a good way to earn more revenue with your blog.

InfoLinks has been running an affiliate program from long, but they never promoted that on their site. Many publishers don't know that there is a InfoLinks affiliate program on InfoLinks’s website.

How To Join InfoLinks Affiliate Program?

To become an InfoLinks affiliate, you have to be an active publisher and have their ad code running on your website. Then you can join their affiliate program by contacting them. They will reply you with information about the program and your affiliate link.

For each publisher who joins the InfoLinks network by clicking your personal referral link, you will be entitled to a one-time referral fee of up to $1,000 per new publisher, as follows

  • Small Publisher: $25 (up to 10,000 average net InfoLinks page impressions per day)
  • Medium Publisher: $100 (up to 100,000 average net InfoLinks page impressions per day)
  • Large Publisher: $1,000 (over 100,000 average net InfoLinks page impressions per day)

InfoLinks Affiliate Program Rules:

These 3 rules are needed to be followed by any publisher:

Publisher’s traffic must have at least 30% from the US. If the publisher has less than 30% of traffic from the US then affiliation fee will be 30% of the sums described above.

The new publisher must be actually new (and not in previous contact with Infolinks or related to any of the Infolinks publishers).

The referral member should remain as a fully active Infolinks publisher with an average of at least 300 daily net impressions for a minimal consecutive period of three months.

How To Track InfoLinks Affiliate Earning:

Good question, I wrote an email to InfoLinks about this, here is their response:

Unfortunately, there is currently no option to view affiliate statistics. However, the earnings made from the affiliate program are added to your total earnings at the end of each month which you can view in the "Payment History" section under the Account tab, in your InfoLinks account.

AJAX Navigation Menu For Blogger

Earlier this month, I posted an article on AJAX page loading effect for Blogger, which was so far the best AJAX trick for a Blogger blog.

AJAX is not a new programming language, but a new way to use existing standards. AJAX is the art of exchanging data with a server, and updating parts of a web page - without reloading the whole page. AJAX was made popular in 2005 by Google, with Google Suggest.

So, today I'am sharing a very nice Mashable style AJAX drop down menu for Blogger, which is created by W2B. The menu is works just like normal drop-down menu when javascript is disabled, And it will turns to AJAX powered drop-down menu when javascript is enabled.

Add This Menu To Blogger:

  • Go To Blogger > Template > Edit HTML > Click on "Proceed."
  • Search for </b:skin> and post following css just above it:

/* Menu Stylings */

  • Save your template....Time for the final and most complicated step, so pay some attention to this.

The AJAX Menu accepts three types of urls. You must use this urls only in the menu. They are Label, Search Query and Label w/ Search Query.

  • Label URL: http://yourblogdomain.blogspot.com/search/label/LABELNAME
  • Search Query: http://yourblogdomain.blogspot.com/search?q=SEARCHQUERY
  • Label w/ Search Query: http://yourblogdomain.blogspot.com/search/label/LABELNAME?q=SEARCHQUERY

  • Go To Blogger > Layout > Add A Gadget > HTML/JavaScript
  • Post following code:

        Home

Sample Label

Label w/ Search

Search Query

Unknown Search

        Example 2

Design

Facebook

Guest Posts

Normal Link

That's IT....Also, don't forget to change your blog's url in above code....

Twitter Cards For Blogger

Twitter Cards show more detail about your posts to give readers a little preview of what they'll see when they click your link. And, the cards work when anyone Tweets a link to your post.

Adding META tags to your blog to allow links to your site to be more informational when tweeted. Implementing Twitter Card META tags on your site takes five minutes.

In this tutorial I'm going to focus on making a summary card. The other two card types — photo and player — are not included in this tutorial, but you can learn more about them from the official Twitter Cards documentation.

Twitter Card META Tags:

Before starting this tutorial, I wanna discuss about Twitter Card META tags. You can easily setup your blog's Twitter Card by adding several META tags to your blog. As I mentioned above, in this tutorial I'am only going to focus on summary card, which is most important for your blog.

META tags you would use in all card cases include:

  • twitter:card - The type of card to be created: summary, photo, or video.
  • twitter:url - The URL that should be used for the card. This will likely be the same URL as the page's canonical link.
  • twitter:title - The title as it should display in the Twitter Card.
  • twitter:description - A 200 character summary of the content at the given URL.
  • twitter:image - A representative image URL for the content. In many cases, simply providing your logo's URL will be just fine.
  • twitter:site - The Twitter username used by the given site including the '@'
    twitter:creator - The Twitter username of the individual author of the content

Get Your Blog Posts Ready for Twitter Cards:

Twitter Cards use your post's Search Description as your summary, so you'll want to make sure that you've filled it in on each post.

Adding Twitter Card META Tags To Blogger:

Now, I'll show you how to perfectly add these META tags to your blog's template. Don't forget to backup your template.

  • Go To Blogger > Template > Edit HTML > Click on "Proceed"
  • Once you've opened up your template, find the
tag in your template's markup. Enter this markup directly above the
tag:

  • In above code, replace HardeepAsrani with your Twitter handler. Now save your template.

Test Your Markup:

Now, before last step, we'll first check our site's Twitter Card markup by using Card Preview utility so that you can ensure your META tags are used in a valid fashion.

On the tester page, enter the URL of one of your posts (NOT your home page, Twitter Cards only work on post pages) and click "Preview Card".

Applying for Twitter Card Approval:

Twitter requires that your domain be approved before they will allow Twitter Cards for your site; this is likely to combat abuses like pornography and sites promoting illegal activity.You can apply for your domain by clicking here.

In application form, put bunch of basic information about your blog or site. Submit your application, And soon your Twitter Card will automatically work.

Don't forget to tweet me your blog's link so I may review your Twitter Card. Also, don't forget to leave your comments...

CSS Lava Lamp Menu For Blogger

Yesterday, I found this excellent CSS menu, which bases on "Lava Lamp Menu" concept. Also, this menu is available for download or demo at this link. In September, we shared a jquey based Lava Lamp menu, which was based on jQuery.

This menu is available in three different styles, you can check a demo at this link. This menu is created by Paulina Hetman from Pepsized. This menu is coded so beautiful, and basic mark-up of all three menus are same.

First two menus are pure CSS based and third menu uses a heart and arrow image, which is adorable (Just kidding :p).

Add This Menu To Blogger:

  • Go To Blogger > Template > Edit HTML > Click on "Proceed."
  • Search for </b:skin> and post following css just above it:

/* --- for all three examples ----*/

.nav {
  text-align: center;
  overflow: hidden;
  margin: 2em auto;
  width: 480px;
  position: relative; }
  .nav a {
    display: block;
    position: relative;
        float: left;
        padding: 1em 0 2em;
    width: 25%;
        text-decoration: none;
      color: #393939;
      -webkit-transition: .7s;
      -moz-transition: .7s;
      -o-transition: .7s;
      -ms-transition: .7s;
      transition: .7s; }
      .nav a:hover {
        color: #c6342e; }

.effect {
    position: absolute;
  left: -12.5%;
  -webkit-transition: 0.7s ease-in-out;
  -moz-transition: 0.7s ease-in-out;
  -o-transition: 0.7s ease-in-out;
  -ms-transition: 0.7s ease-in-out;
  transition: 0.7s ease-in-out; }

    .nav a:nth-child(1):hover ~ .effect {
      left: 12.5%; }
    .nav a:nth-child(2):hover ~ .effect {
      left: 37.5%; }
    .nav a:nth-child(3):hover ~ .effect {
      left: 62.5%; }
    .nav a:nth-child(4):hover ~ .effect {
      left: 87.5%; }

/* ----- line example -----*/

.ph-line-nav .effect {

Post Views Counter Widget For Blogger

Finally, MBT found a great way to display post view count on Blogger. We will do this by using Firebase. With Firebase you can now create dynamic and data-driven plugins for blogger without worrying about backend development. Firebase's Free plan gives you 10GB Free bandwidth and 5GB Free storage.

The postviews count wont change when you refresh the blog homepage but it will change only when you visit individual posts. This plugin will display views only once pages are visited. It is not synchronized with your Google analytics stats data, therefore it will only display correct views for the new posts that you publish.

Create Your Firebase Account And Database:

First you need to create a Firebase account to use this widget, which is free at this link. Fill up the easy steps sensibly and then once your account has been activated, you must create your first Firebase database.

  • Towards the bottom right side of your account, you will find the following submit box:

  • Inside this box input your desire firebase name. This generated the following firebase URL: https://example.firebaseio.com.

Installing Postviews Plugin:

  • Go To Blogger > Template > Click Edit HTML > Tick the box "Expand widget Templates"
  • Search for </b:skin>
  • Just above it paste the following CSS code:

    /*-------- Post Views  ----------*/
    #views-container {
    width: 75px;
    float: right;
    }

    .mbtloading {
    background: url('https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgc5Wn8iV8T3XKzrW6q_bia_k7TKh0Olhkl8t3snEMxjMLXElRyFILWr8vlzqaQyeMx4CCKXU1yifPts2an9fgbsWvzKelvzfq8AzWREJyE_TMDoipuGqvM5Cnb_Mga2hU4lj93XTxL8BE/s1600/loading.gif') no-repeat left center;
    width: 16px;
    height: 16px;
    }

    .viewscount {
    float: right;
    color: #EE5D06;
    font: bold italic 14px arial;
    }

    .views-text {
    float: left;
    font: bold 12px arial;
    color: #333;
    }

    .views-icon{
    background: url('https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm_xSfbai8v-mrbnf6zQr3oVzBNQOKsIG4lse6IlGh2HQq2IRcMtIo5Ugigv-WFjlqKtmJyOKImqCVGfFlKBqgeMJtIK5UFwe4Mn9LIiQHkFnmxOB2Cgxe3PyP-1cklSbvqVDoiJmgAGE/s1600/postviews.png') no-repeat left;
    border: 0px;
    display: block;
    width: 16px;
    height: 16px;
    float: left;
    padding: 0px 2px;
    }

  • Now search for
and just above it paste the following JavaScript code:

  • Replace the example with your firebase name. Make sure you replace it correctly. Time for the final step. Find this code:

<data:post.body/>

  • Just above it paste the following HTML,

Views:

  • Hit save and you are all done!

Having Trouble?

If you are finding multi occurrences of <data:post.body/> code then choose the first occurrence. Also, this widget will only display correct views for the new posts that you publish. Thanks to MBT for this amazing script.
